So here it is, after 15 years. A document of a band, an idea, a slice of time. 17+ minutes of broken Italian black metal(?)!
Back in 2007, Carbon received a demo from a mysterious Italian group. Broken/outsider black metal? Free-noise metal? The demo included a manifesto of sorts, which I had to translate from Italian (using web tools at the time). The group was railing against the Second Vatican Council held in 1962-1965, to update or modernize the Catholic church. The group felt this was an affront to Catholic traditions, and needed to be reversed and that simply holding a Third Council would not be enough, and would have to push forward right to a Fourth Council, hence, Vatican IV. Since 2007, its seems that maybe a Third and Fourth, and even fifth Council have taken place.
The original demo got lost in a box of other submissions, until this Fall, while I was going through a bin of some old label ephemera. The original website the band had (on Geocities!) is long gone, and looks like it never got archived (by the band or the Internet Wayback Machine), and the only email contact I had for the band just gave me a quick "sì" when I asked if they would be down for a very small run lathe-cut. The band is no longer active, and not really sure if they ever were actually that active back in the 2000's.

"I repeat, My children, as I have told you in the past, that the great Council of Vatican II was manipulated by satan. He sat there among you and he worked you like a chessboard. What can you do now to recover? It is simple, My children: turn back and start over with the foundation given to you. You must bring respect back to your priesthood. You must bring respect back to your Holy Father...!" - Our Lady of the Roses, May 15, 1976
